What is the best way to clean or maintain your Fabkit (besides removing debris)?
Shopvac, pressurized air and a soft cloth is all I use, esp near the lenses and mirrors!
Oh, and I’ve once flushed and refilled the cooling system…
At RevSpace (Hackerspace Den Haag), I clean the FabKit with Alklanet and a clean microfiber cloth (one that absorbs very well), wearing gloves because the smell doesn’t easily come off once it’s on your skin.
Note: don’t clean the parts that have grease on them, unless it’s really dirty. The grease is there for a reason, and you will have to apply new grease if you remove it. If I recall correctly, white lithium grease is suggested.
These are some helpful tips for everyone. Thx @CescoAiel and @Juerd.
Till now I only used vacuum cleaner for the debris and isopropanol for the mirror with a cotton swab/Q-tip starting in the middle and circling outward.
I forgot to mention the IPA… Yes, use IPA for cleaning mirrors!
While cleaning the water chiller I saw air bubbles coming out. I’m not a technician, but I don’t think this is appropriate. There is no difference if the chiller is on/off.
What could be wrong?
Oh. that is not right, It looks like there has been some really bad corrosion in there. By the looks of if the refrigerant is leaking, and will no longer cool the water once depleted.
@Linor had the same issue. We have since switched to a new chiller which is more reliable.
As your machine is still under warranty ( 2 years ) just pop by and collect a new chiller.
